Dr. R. Kent Galey
Dr. R. Kent Galey received his bachelors degree in Biology from Denison University in Ohio and his Dental Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was class president for four years. After graduating early from the dental school, he completed a 4- year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Presbyterian University Hospital, UPMC, and has been specializing in oral surgery for over 32 years. Dr. Galey holds academic appointments in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Allegheny University Hospitals, Drexel School of Medicine. Dr. Galey is an active member of the oral surgery professional community. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and has served for six years as an examiner for the board. Dr. Galey is a member of many professional organizations and has been a National spokesperson for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Locally, at UPMC Passavant Hospital, he has been Chairman of the Operating Room Committee, Chairman of the Bylaws Committee, Chairman of the Head and Neck Surgery Department, and an elected Medical Staff Executive Committee member at large. Dr. Galey is actively involved with amateur athletics including being the team doctor for a local high school hockey team, and an official team doctor of the Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey Club.
