Meet Dr. Tunder

Dr. George S. TunderDr. George Tunder was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Montour High School and graduated with high honors. His education continued at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. While graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, he was placed on the dean’s list for academic achievement. Dr. Tunder continued to pursue his education at The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

In addition to serving as student body president during part of his tenure, Dr. Tunder was accepted for a health profession scholarship by the United States Air Force. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Tunder started his active duty career in the Air Force. His first duty station was at Eglin AFB, FL where he completed residency training in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. Next, he was stationed at Yokota AB, Japan where he was a staff general dentist.

Afterwards, Dr Tunder was stationed at Ramstein AB, Germany as a staff general dentist. While serving in Germany, Dr Tunder was awarded the Company Grade Officer of the Year for the 86th Dental Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. His excellence was further exemplified when he was selected for specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery through the United States Air Force. Dr. Tunder completed his four-year specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, TX.

Most recently, Dr Tunder was stationed at Barksdale AFB, LA where he served as Chief, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. In addition, Dr. Tunder held the position of Assistant Clinical Professor in the departments of Advanced Education in General Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Louisiana State University Health Science Center. After 13.5 years of active duty service in the United States Air Force, Dr. Tunder separated from the Air Force with an honorable discharge holding the rank of Lt. Colonel. During his active duty time, he was deployed to Central America for a humanitarian mission.

Dr Tunder is a published author and has lectured on numerous topics in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board or Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Additionally, Dr. Tunder is a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesia. Dr Tunder is an expert in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery and strives to provide the most comprehensive care available!
